Cherokee Moon In Florida

March brings The Cherokee Moon and is also known as the Strawberry Month...

...and soon here in Tampa, we may have snow. According to the silly meteorologist on the television's - them and their blown up ego's. The computers and peoples else where keep us posted on what years of history and computers say. Heck, even the Farmer's Almanac puts out some pretty accurate information early. Shoot, I've known Folks who believed in every word of that almanac. I always preferred the yearly worlds almanac, my self. Since childhood and would follow stats and changes in averages and populations of peoples. And pray. No, I never have taken reading for granted and can say that I a God Blessed my eye with the words from many an author. Yes.

Our Florida weather has always amuse me. Just when a Florida Boy thinks he has seen it all - My Great Spirit throws a curve, batter-batter, swing! I love my Florida Winters very much and soon to enjoy them as I did years ago. Folks, I share with you right now that the best time of year for walk abouts or hiking and camping in Florida is now. Yes, might get cold in cooler months but very rarely will one spot a mosquito during Winter. Or those Sparrow sized Dragon Flys in the Ocala National Forest. Folks please, I have seen bumble bee's the size of Humming Birds...

...it is also this time of year one may catch a glimpse of deer up very close too, see turtle and alligator by the dozen. Listen to the Seagulls play over at the Channel and listen to the Peacock off not too far from here and no, Peacock is not a native of Florida, but has adapted very well and are scattered through out Central and Southern Florida. Sometimes in the dusk, just right before total night, I can sometimes hear the haunting call's of these magnificent creatures.

From time to time, we hear and will listen to Coyote in the preserve. Folks around here have taken snap shots of them in their yards and communities. This is what happens when we encroach upon Mother Earth's creatures. The way we have permitted these out of state folks and foreigner's to take our Native Florida Land has almost gone to damned far. I have seen what fifty some years has done to my Home State and I pray that soon we take better care of or Nature's Folk.
